Altai: This scarf is made from yak khullu ,silk and blue faced Leicester it is a complicated shadow weave design. Shadow weaves are made using one dark and one light thread because of this and the design they are woven into there is the impression of it being a three dimensional pattern. The yak khullu is from 2 and 3 year old yak it is prized for softness, breathability, warmth and natural elasticity. In this scarf this khullu is blended 50/50 with silk to make a lighter weight scarf while still maintaining softness and drape. The  Bluefaced Leicester wool has a long fibre length which adds strength and being a lustre fibre it has a certain shimmer of its own. The combination of these two fibres make a scarf that is extremely soft warm, breathable and hardwearing I have also used the contrast between the Matt finish of the yak khullu and the lustre of the Bluefaced Leicester to add to this design . This is a lighter weight scarf for spring or  autumn yet warm enough for winter.
