MADE TO ORDER SACRVES
All my scarves are handmade and one-of-a-kind. I also offer a made-to-order service, so you can have a scarf remade from the shop or create a completely custom design.

A made-to-order scarf is an opportunity to create a piece that reflects your own taste while carrying the same craftsmanship and story at the heart of Khullu + Leicester.
From fibre choice to colour, pattern, and finishing touches, each scarf is woven by me, to your specifications, and designed to be both personal and enduring.
Scarves can be woven from a single fibre or a blend of both:
- 100% Yak Khullu — A rare fibre often compared to cashmere, yak khullu is prized for its softness, breathability, and strength. I source it directly from nomadic herders in Mongolia’s Arkhangai region. Its fine structure makes it more robust than many other fibres, while its natural elasticity helps the fabric recover its shape. Moisture-wicking and temperature-regulating, it creates scarves that are warm, fresh, and durable.
- Bluefaced Leicester — Sourced from family-run farms in the Yorkshire Dales, Bluefaced Leicester is a lustre wool with a natural shine that complements the matt finish of yak khullu. Silky soft, breathable, and hard-wearing, it can be used in blends or stand alone as a distinctive fibre in its own right. Entirely natural and traceable, it carries with it the farming traditions of the Dales.
- Yak Khullu × Bluefaced Leicester Blend —Â
When spun with Bluefaced Leicester wool, yak khullu gains a subtle sheen and extra durability, while remaining soft and naturally breathable. The contrast between the two fibres brings out the best qualities of each, producing scarves with both depth and resilience.
Â
Each pattern is designed to suit the yarns used, so the drape and texture highlight the natural qualities of the fibre. The design takes shape as the weft threads, woven back and forth, cross the warp threads set on the loom. While I can adjust a pattern’s width to some extent, the structure remains consistent along the length of each scarf.
I hand-dye yarns in small batches. You can select from my core palette or request a custom colour direction. Natural dyeing produces subtle variations and depth, giving each scarf its own character.
Yak khullu usually comes in light or dark brown, with occasional rare shades of grey. These fibres tend to produce softer, muted tones when dyed. By contrast, Bluefaced Leicester wool arrives in a light cream, taking on brighter colours with a natural lustre — making it ideal for accent shades.
The fringe marks both the beginning and end of the weaving process, formed where the threads are tied to the loom. It adds character to each piece and can be left loose or twisted into tassels, depending on your preference. Every scarf is completed with a handmade Khullu + Leicester bead as a finishing detail.
